Promoting reading and learning in underserved communities.
Research indicates that children who read for just 20 minutes a day rank in the 90th percentile on standardized tests. They develop stronger reading skills, broader knowledge, better writing abilities, a richer vocabulary, and greater success in school and life. Studies also show that children of all ages, especially from birth to five, thrive when parents actively participate in their learning. Our programs aim to enhance children’s language, comprehension, and literacy skills by fostering an awareness of print and its connection to reading. Learning begins with understanding: we first learn to read, and then we read to learn. Letters form sounds, sounds create words, and words build sentences. Together, let’s get "Geared Up for Literacy" and Build Better Readers!
